The Dolphins had an early 10-7 lead to end the first quarter, but in the second the 49ers came out swinging when they scored 21 points in the second and another 10 in the third. The Dolphins only managed to score six more point in the second and that was it. The 49ers won 38-16, Montana was name Super Bowl MVP after throwing 331 yards and three touchdowns. Montana also had 59 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.
