The Super Bowl XLIII which was the 2008-2009 season, saw something special during the year. The Detroit Lions would finish the season 0-16 on the year. The last time this happened was during the 1982 season when the season was shortened due to a strike. The Tennessee Titans finished the season with the best record in the NFL 13-3 and they received the number one seed in the AFC. The New York Giants finished the season 12-4 and earned the number one seed over the Panthers with a head to head tiebreaker. The MVP of the league was given to Peyton Manning that year. Mike Smith won coach of the year his first year with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Steelers went into halftime leading 17-7, which included James Harrison record-breaking 100-yard interception return for a touchdown. This was the Steelers 6th super bowl win which is shown by the six large diamonds on its face. In raised text “Pittsburgh Steelers, World Champions” can be seen on the face of the ring. To help enhance the design, there are other stones and diamonds scattered around the face. As you can see, players are identified on the side with their surname and jersey number while on the other side is the final score along with miniature Lombardi Trophies and the logo of Super Bowl XLIII.
